Rice Krispies treats or rice cereal treats have been a family favourite for many generations. It's been one of our family's best, as well. 

Its simplicity and versatility invites children and their families to be creative in the kitchen letting them formulate different variations of this dessert by adding caramel, condensed milk, corn syrup, peanut butter, chocolate chips or any baking chips variety, nuts, flavoring agents, decorative icing, cookie crumbs, M & M's or other candy etc... This mixture can be molded into various forms from a simple ball for a jack o'lantern to a multi-layered wedding cake, just by adding a little cold water or non-sticking spray to a rolling pin, spatula, spoon or hands. Even your best-loved cookie cutters can transform this simple cereal mixture into a masterpiece for your next upcoming event. 

The list is endless...All you need are the basic ingredients, a creative mind and voila!

Mumzy's Caramel Maple Rice Krispies® Squares (adapted)

• 5 or 6 cups of  Rice Krispies® 
• 250 g bag of regular marshmallows
• 1/4 cup of butter or margarine
• 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
• 1/2 tsp. maple extract
• Caramel Syrup Ice Cream and Dessert Topping
Variation: Substitute Rice Krispies® for any rice cereal

In a large pot, melt butter/margarine and marshmallows over low heat, stirring
often, until well blended. Remove from heat. Add extracts and cereal., stirring until
coated. Butter a 13” x 9” pan and transfer cereal using a cold spatula and
press evenly. TIP: Run spatula under cold water often for managability. Drizzle
caramel syrup. Cool, Cut into squares and enjoy!
